I’ve just finished reading your book, couldn’t put it down! What a great work!
It’s disgusting what the Organization does in “God’s name”!! I could feel so much of your pain and bewilderment as I read your heartfelt, honest, candid words.
Do you know, I really think a movie producer somewhere should get their hands on your book, it would make a fascinating movie, or even series! You have produced gold here, dear Mr. Keith Casarona.
It is said that “truth is stranger than fiction” and this would make a great “based on a true story” drama and exposé that should be told.
I am serious, please consider this!
Like Leah Remini and her Scientology series, this would make a fascinating account of what goes on behind closed doors in the hidden world of JWs and their leadership and lifestyle.
Thank you for putting pen to paper and recording this. Your memory (or journal keeping?) is impeccable.
Amazing work. It really is a peek inside “the most holy of the holies” and so much more.

Jehovah provides guidance in the publications and in programs from the faithful slave!
by stumbledbyothers inthis past weeks watchtower study, reminds us that jehovah provides guidance in the publications and in programs from faithful slave!
now you hear from the platform that god has given us jw broadcasting and jw.org.
lets see: thought wt says they have no special connection to god, nor special knowledge, they get no extra holy spirit, gods thoughts higher than mans???

Remember this verse? Psalm 146:3 - “Do not put your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no salvation.”

I wish that when he does these hall blitzes or whatever he calls then, he would also mention something about the WT secretly joining up with the United Nations for 10 YEARS. And that WT has also secretly, paid out MILLIONS of dollars toward private settlements of child sexual abuse cases in their congregations over the years.
And yes, I also noticed the extreme obesity of many of the members of this congregation. Some rather hefty fellows there. Many grey heads.

The WT is so despicable... so accountable for all this by their policies and man-made decrees... they “weigh out the tenth of the mint & the dill & the cumin but forget the weightier measures of the law, namely love, kindness, and compassion...”
Thank you for posting this.

When you were an active JW, did you ever have dealings with a pyramid scheme?
by Tameria2001 ini'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?
at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.
once in a while, we would attend a neighboring congregation because that was where he grew up, and some of his family was still attending there at the time.

YES! Omg, it was one of the things that actually helped to start waking me up.
We got involved in "Melaleuca", and started going to some of their meetings, and lo and behold, would you believe, that many of their meetings were SIMILAR to the JW meetings!
The same "sales pitches" and demonstrations, examples of how to "cold call", make placements / leave samples, find out what your customer is interested in, notice if they have kids, etc., keep track of your "magazines" (sales brochures, product info sheets), then praise and applaud your high sellers....
Oh my god. It was spookily, eerily similar. At the time I tried to reason that "Satan hides things in plain sight, he will make the truth look like other things, or make other things look like the truth, blah blah blah...." and that all others were most likely copying the JWs for their best-est and most wonderful-est ways of doing everything. -

JW at a thrift store....
by Muddy Waters inso i was recently in a thrift store, looking through some of the stuff there, when another aisle over, somebody sneezed.. (as far as i know, nobody lost a meatball.... 😅🙃 ...).
anyway, somebody sneezed.
and somebody immediately said, “bless you!”.

Hi everyone!! Thank you so much for your comments! I had to “post and run”, lol, so excuse me for not replying sooner.
LV101 - I see you’ve got your answer about the meatball reference! LOL
It’s from a song, “On Top of Spaghetti”, which is a remake/children’s version of the song, “On Top of Old Smokey”.
The “Old Smokey” version went something like:
On top of old smokey (a mountain)
All covered in snow
I lost my poor lover
from a-courtin’ too slow….
The “Spaghetti” version, which we loved as children, went like this:
On top of spaghettiiiiiiiii
All covered in cheese
I lost my poor meatball
when somebody sneezed.
It rolled of the table
and onto the floor
and then my poor meatball
rolled right out the door!
It rolled in the garden
and under a bush
and then my poor meatball
was nothing but mush.
!!
Pretty cute song. :)
…
And sir82 - lol, how true!! I remember saying some pretty absurd things and receiving equally incredulous looks, but “knowing” I was right and had “the truth” somehow kept me bumbling along… just like this poor woman in the thrift store!
…
Moster - cool, I’d not heard that one before!
…
blondie - omg, so true, the JWs, or their leaders, have truly become scribes and Pharisees.
Straining out the gnat and gulping down the camel!! Blind guides. All falling into a pit. A pit of mindless repetition, boredom, judgment of others, sneering superiority. All found in their kingdom halls, full of nitpickers.
Judging everything… your music, the books you read… the clothes you wear, your hair, oh my good. Everything.
…
Thank you, Phoebe! :)
…
john.prestor - I know!! I couldn’t believe her nerve either. I wonder if she knew the person who worked there. It didn’t *seem* so… but who knows. So very bizarre!!
…
Maria Nieves - so sad about the little child being corrected just for saying a nice little nothing-y thing.
…
Butyoucanneverleave - quite right. But of course JWs can’t just do something so normal or polite, lol.
…
clean ideas - Thank you for explaining the meatball reference! lol. I should have made that more clear in my post.
…
smiddy3 - Isn’t that true!! I never realized how superstitious JWs really are. I mean, take their wind chime thing. The toasting thing. The not saying bless-you after sneezing thing. No clinking glasses for toasts. No rice or confetti at weddings.
The big issues of life are seen as “refuse” - garbage - to them (careers, education, etc.)
Makes me very angry actually.
…
WingCommander - I loved that movie, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape! So surreal and sad.
…
sparky1 - hahaha! Yep. Gotta count time and report whatever morsel you can! They are so few and far between.
…
OrphanCrow - isn’t that true! (about some JWs shouldn’t go out in public! Yet I was one of them too! God, so self-righteous….)
laughing my head off about Herbal Essences shampoo. JWs are sooooo uptight!!!!
…
tiki & johnamos - Great points!!! I think it would be awesome for people to say bless-you after a fart or belch! LOL
…
neat blue dog - Thank you. I hope her embarrassment makes her think a little bit about … everything!
…
redvip2000 - no, I didn’t go further with her. I may have asked a few more questions to keep her talking so foolishly. In the end I just felt very sorry for her. It was like looking at a version of me, years ago, when I so fervently believed it all.
…
OnTheWayOut - yes, you’d think that’s the most reasonable, and polite, way to reply. People are just showing a kindness. (now, how to get them to say bless- you after after other bodily releases? LOL!)
…
HappyBlessedFree - Yes, talk about exhausting and pointless. Their theology and doctrines are just another way to elevate themselves and separate themselves and look down at everybody else.
It is GOOD to be FREE from them!!!
